What is the difference between a CD & DVD?
CDs are viewed on computers while DVDs can be viewed on either computer or TV.
USABILITY:
To navigate a CD the user clicks on buttons using the mouse. Buttons can be placed anywhere on screen.
To navigate a DVD the up, down, left, right & menu buttons on the remote control are used, therefore some people find DVDs less usable.
The interface design of a CD is less restricted than DVDs.
USERS SYSTEM:
Computer Users: Movies within a CD use the quicktime format. All current Windows & Macintosh operating systems are loaded with Quicktime™ automatically, but users of older systems may have to install it off the CD in order to view showreels & movies on your CD. Interact Showreels produces hybrid CDs which will play on either platform.
TV viewers: Most NTSC players can't play PAL discs & most NTSC TVs don't work with PAL video. A very small number of NTSC players can convert PAL to NTSC.
What is the difference between PAL & NTSC?
Discs are coded for different regions of the world.
NTSC is the TV format used in Canada, Japan, Mexico, Phillipines, Taiwan & United States.
PAL is the TV format for most of Europe, most of Africa, China, India, Australia, New Zealand, Israel & North Korea.
Most computers can play both PAL & NTSC DVDs.
What should I order, CD or DVD (NTSC or PAL)?
This depends on who will be viewing your showreel. It is worth asking your agent or manager for advise or of course we can help you to decide.
